After Memory: Essays on the Sudanese Archive

After Memory is a bilingual publication about the Sudanese archive edited and published by Locale. It includes 15 essays contributed by creatives, researchers and practitioners from cultural disciplines ranging from music and food practices to poetry and women’s rituals. This collection of essays insightfully critiques, encounters and constructs the Sudanese archive in its many variations.

My contribution is an essay titled The Deathscapes of Khartoum, which discusses the influence of spaces of death and the relationship between death, remembrance, and memorialization in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum.
